Survivors of Trafficking Case Manager

Jewish Family Service is currently seeking a Survivors of Trafficking Case Manager to join our Refugee and Immigrant Services team. This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position will provide trauma-informed case management and advocacy support to foreign born youth and young adult survivors of trafficking. The Case Manager will be responsible for managing assigned caseloads of clients, conducting needs assessments, developing and implementing service plans and supporting clients towards the achievement of stability and individualized goals.  The Case Manager will also conduct outreach, advocacy, and education for survivors of human trafficking and other service providers. The position is based in the agency’s Kent office, but work is carried out in locations throughout the Puget Sound region, including clients’ homes and other community locations as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with clients to develop a strengths-based, goal-orientated service plan to support and empower youth survivors of human trafficking on their path to stability and legal status.
  • Assesses risks and helps survivors to develop, review and adjust appropriate safety plans.
  • Provides comprehensive case management as applicable to individualized service plans, including advocating and coordinating access to resources; support in finding safe housing and other basic needs; connecting clients to medical and mental health care, continued education services, legal services, and applicable public benefits; conducting home visits; and facilitating community navigation and the creation of social support networks.
  • Ensures contract compliance and program quality across multiple funding sources, including maintaining detailed, accurate and timely client records and program reporting.
  • Provides all services in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner for each client, utilizing interpretation/translation services as needed.
  • Maintains an up-to-date, working knowledge of best practices in trauma-informed, client-centered case management and issues pertaining to human trafficking including their intersections with other forms of oppression and the U.S. immigration legal system.
  • Collaborates across department and agency programs and cultivates relationships with other community organizations and task forces to ensure client and agency goals are met. Provides referrals to clients as needed.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in the field.
  • English fluency and with additional fluency in Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to travel frequently and independently throughout the Puget Sound region.
  • Trauma-informed, client-centered case management experience required.
  • Experience working with survivors of trafficking and/or immigrant youth strongly
  • Knowledge of human trafficking, immigration laws, social services and resources to survivors of trafficking, including those without immigration status is preferred.
  • Strong computer, documentation and time management skills to ensure effective case file maintenance.
  • Demonstrated ability to: take initiative, problem solve and work under pressure, handle competing priorities, demonstrate adaptability and flexibility.
  • Dedication to serving immigrant communities with a sincere commitment to working on behalf of low-income immigrants.
  • Excellent communication skills, demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that prioritizes clients’ needs and capabilities. Some evening and weekend work required.
  • Must be able to successfully pass Washington State Patrol WATCH background check, FBI background check and a Child Abuse/Neglect check.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable access to personal vehicle as well as ability to drive agency vehicles as required.

Housing Stability Case Manager

Jewish Family Service is currently seeking a Housing Stability Case Manager to join our Refugee and Immigrant Services team. This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position will be responsible for coordinating rental assistance for eligible clients to ensure housing and financial stability. The position is based in the Kent JFS office, but work is carried out in locations throughout the Puget Sound, including clients’ homes and other locations in the community. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet client needs. Some evening and weekend work may be required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Screen applicants for rental assistance need and eligibility as established by program funders.
  • Complete rental assistance applications with participants, ensuring the submission of accurate and complete documentation.
  • Assist with landlord and other third-party communication, including gathering required documentation such as W-9, tenant ledgers, and paystubs.
  • Attend funder provider meetings and remain up-to-date of contract requirements and program service adjustments.
  • Conduct program outreach and informational sessions to engage and educate potential recipients and other community stakeholders on the program.
  • Provide information and referral services to program participants to support housing stability and to facilitate client community orientation and understanding of available resources.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date knowledge of local housing and financial stability resources.
  • Communicate and collaborate across Refugee & Immigrant Services programs to ensure timely referrals, care coordination and holistic services to rental assistance applicants who are eligible for additional agency services.
  • Complete required rental assistance contract reporting
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation of all services provided.

 
QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within field.
  • Experience working with other cultures and ability to effectively communicate with people who speak
    English as a second language and are not familiar with the systems in the United States.
  • Demonstrated experience with successfully meeting deadlines for detailed oriented tasks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with a diverse team.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable access to personal vehicle.

Employment Case Manager

Jewish Family Service is seeking an Employment Case Manager in the Refugee & Immigrant Services program. This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position provides case management services critical to refugee and immigrant clients’ economic stability. The position will work one-on-one with clients to identify and overcome barriers to employment and financial asset building, focusing on long term career planning and advancement. The position is based at the JFS’ Kent office, but will have responsibilities throughout Puget Sound. Travel will be required to meetings in the community, medical and social service facilities, and employment appointments. Regular and punctual attendance with occasional overtime is required, as well as some evenings and weekends.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create a strengths-based individualized career plan with clients, identifying and managing towards short and long term goals.
  • Provide case management that supports stable employment including obtaining/maintaining refugee benefits, addressing routine medical needs, ESL enrollment, transportation support, and assistance with childcare enrollment.
  • Undertake job readiness class for clients to prepare them for job search services including job placement and job retention including interview skills, workplace culture and expectations, and industry-specific skills.
  • Identify asset building goals with clients. Develop realistic plans based on goals. Connect clients to financial institutions and asset building agencies as appropriate.
  • Assist clients in accessing suitable trainings, work experience opportunities, and educational institutions to create entry points into appropriate career pathways. Assess and record client progress towards goals of career plan.
  • Maintain information on community resources and develop relationships with other providers and professionals, as needed.
  • Conduct professional communication and professional networking skills workshops at local partner agencies, community-based organizations and in the Kent office.
  • Support clients through professional mentorship opportunities ensuring ongoing professional support from volunteer mentor.
  • Provide ongoing household budgeting support and teach clients skills needed to build a realistic budget and plan for Family Self Sufficiency.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage competing priorities, pay attention to detail, and clearly and concisely communicate and collaborate with others.

Refugee Services Case Manager

Jewish Family Service is seeking a Refugee Services Case Manager in the Refugee & Immigrant Services program. This full-time (37.5 hours/week) position provides case management services to refugee and immigrant clients in the agency’s resettlement and employment programs. The position will also provide backup reception coverage at the Refugee & Immigrant Services Office, as necessary.

This dynamic role will ensure service quality and contract compliance by alternating between programs to provide additional staffing support where most needed.  The position is client-facing and requires the ability to work across teams and efficiently pivot between services and priorities.  The employee will be expected to hold their own client caseload in addition to helping with the caseloads of their teammates. The position requires a high degree of flexibility and comfort with continually shifting priorities and tasks.

The position is based at the JFS’ Kent office but will have responsibilities throughout King County. Travel will be required to meetings in the community, social service facilities, and client homes. Regular and punctual attendance is required.

  • Create a strengths-based individualized career plan with clients, identifying and managing progress towards short- and long-term goals.
  • Provide case management that supports stable employment including obtaining/maintaining refugee benefits, addressing routine medical needs, ESL enrollment, transportation support, and assistance with childcare enrollment.
  • Ensure complete accurate, and timely case notes and case files in accordance with program and contract requirements.
  • Maintain information on community resources and develop relationships with other providers and professionals to facilitate referrals as needed.

 
RESETTLEMENT CASE MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the U.S. Resettlement Reception & Placement Program
  • Provide comprehensive case management to include advocating for and coordinating access to refugee benefits, medical care, school and ESL enrollment; conducting home visits; providing transportation; and ensuring that all new arrivals have appropriate furnishings and household goods.
  • Facilitate client cultural orientation to the US, community navigation, and understanding of available resources and support systems.
  • Ensure complete, accurate, and timely case notes and case files in accordance with program and contract requirements.
  • Maintain information on community resources and develop relationships with other providers and professionals to facilitate referrals as needed.

 
RECEPTION COVERAGE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform receptionist duties in a security conscious facility, including greeting visitors and vendors, answering and directing calls and receiving and sorting incoming mail and deliveries.
  • Coordinate with IT and Facilities Department as necessary to ensure smooth office functioning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience within field.
  • Experience working with other cultures and ability to effectively communicate with people who speak English as a second language.
  • Repetitive heavy lifting is required. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move items, including furniture, weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license, auto insurance and reliable access to personal vehicle as well as ability to drive agency vehicles required.
  • Familiarity with local community resources and systems in social service support programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse team and clearly and concisely communicate and collaborate with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to self-manage competing priorities, pay attention to detail, and learn new tasks quickly.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to meet client needs. Some evening and weekend work required. Overtime may be required during high workload periods. Standard hours are Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm; permanent schedule adjustments based on employee requests are not negotiable.
